Creepers Jeepers

My baby is creeping! Not quite crawling yet, but boy does he want to be mobile! He will move and twist and turn until he reaches whatever it is he has his sights on. And so the creeping has begun, sometimes forward, sometimes backwards. It is so amazing to see his little face contort in concentration as he focuses on a target and tries to figure out what needs to go where and what needs to move so that he can reach that target.

He is also sitting very well and often prefers that to laying on the floor. He will sit and play with his toys until he gets tired, or until he finds something interesting out of reach, and then he goes for it, toppling forward. Then he is content for a bit on his tummy, pushing up on his arms, sometimes so much that he is on his knees and no longer on his tummy.

And he loves his mama's food! I've been making his food (I buy Gerber, too, for when we go out, but I like to feed him homemade food whenever possible). So far I've made sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans, sweet potatoes and peas, apples pears and peaches, apples and peaches, and mashed potatoes. I boil them, puree them, and freeze them in ice cube trays. Once frozen, I store the cubes (or sticks, or mickey mouse ears, whichever ice tray I use) in zip lock bags. It's easy and much more yummy! For whatever reason, baby food tastes blah - even the bananas! Oh, and Lukas is eating banana in his mesh feeder that auntie Adri gave him at the baby shower - we finally brought it out~ He loves it, although it does get somewhat messy, especially when he decides to squeeze the juice out of the feeder with his hands!

Another wonderful thing going on lately - he's sleeping through the night, 10.5 hours on average, and in his own room! He's getting to be such a big boy. :) I miss him in our room, but he loves having his big crib to move around in. He goes down on his side, but throughout the night, he moves to his back, his other side, and ultimately his tummy, as he inches closer and closer to the corner of the crib. He loves the space. He is now no longer being swaddled, so he's got full range of motion!

No teeth yet, but I'm in no hurry for them to come in. I'm happy with his gummy smile and I'm going to miss it tremendously once his pearly whites do come in.

So that's life in the fast lane. Work is going well. I have my up days and my down days. I'm settling in though, which I guess is good. I still wish I could stay home, but another part of me likes being back at work.
