I feel like I'm always trying to catch up! Little Lukas is growing, growing, growing! He has 2 teeth that cut through on the top (the lateral incisor and central incisor - top right) and I think the left ones will soon be following. He has been a champ through it all though.
We went to Disney last week. Hubby was in a conference and we got put up in the Coronado Springs hotel - very nice! So we were there 8 days. We got to do all four parks, albeit not completely. Saturday night we got there, settled in, ate dinner at the Maya Grill, and headed off into slumber in preparation for the parks the next day. Sunday morning we headed to Hollywood Studios (previously known as MGM studios) where we got to watch Playhouse Disney, featuring Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny and My Friends Tigger and Pooh. Lukas had a blast! There were even bubbles! What better excitement than Mickey Mouse and friends and bubbles. He was in Mickey heaven. During the week, Lukas and I relaxed at the hotel and actually enjoyed the amenities. We spent time at the pool (they had a wonderful little tot splash pool that Lukas loved), I got a mani and pedi (heaven!), and we walked, walked, walked. It felt nice to spend the daylight hours actually outside, soaking in the rays. During naptime, we'd retreat to the room and while Lukas slept, I graded papers. For lunchtime, we'd head over and meet Daddy and spend the hour with him before sending him off for the second half of the conference.
We did get to enjoy the other parks throughout the week and following Saturday. Tuesday after the conference, we all headed to Epcot where we rode Figment and ate at Garden Grill - a character dining experience. We met Chip and Dale, Goofy, and Mickey - again, Lukas was in heaven! It was so cute seeing him get so excited, kicking his legs, smiling broadly, turning his head, and giggling - the best! He especially loved to grab their noses. Haha. Wednesday night we went to Downtown Disney.
Thursday morning Lukas and I ventured to do Magic Kingdom on our own and it was nice. Disney resorts are awesome as they have buses that transport you to the parks. It's very handy for a mommy and baby. We got to ride Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, and Peter Pan. We took some pics, and then headed back to the hotel for lunch with daddy. Naptime evaded Lukas that day, so instead of his usual 2, he only took 1 nap. Friday we went back to Magic Kingdom with daddy, but it poured, so we didn't get much done there. Finally, Saturday, we went to Animal Kingdom first, took some pics, saw the Lion King show, rode the safari ride, and then headed to lunch. After lunch, it poured once again, so back to the hotel to relax. Daddy got his massage and mommy graded papers while Lukas slept. Then, once it cleared, we went to Magic Kingdom - late - and got to meet Donald, Pluto, Goofy, and the two Mice from Cinderella, see the parade, and hear some of the fireworks. A beautiful, and tiring, end to a week long vacation.
I have to say that going to Disney now that he recognizes the characters is wonderful. It makes it that much more magical indeed.
On a separate note, I had an interview yesterday for a faculty position. I'm very excited! It's a bit farther than I originally wanted, but it's a faculty position that would allow me to have summers off. God willing, if it's good for us, it'll happen.
