Waffles in Bed

Lat night was rough. Wed night into Thurs, L'd been waking, congested, coughing - sick. Thursday he had a runny nose and a slight cough, but Thrus night into Fri, he'd slept soundly (with me on a mattress on the floor in his room). Yesterday, though, he was fine. With the exception of not wanting to nap, and a cough here and there, he didn't seem sick. But he did resist sleeping - nap and night. He also didn't eat much, so the day brought on those struggles.

At about 1 AM, he woke up with a coughing fit and congestion. We got him some tylenol and a little bit of cough med, and he went back to sleep, only to head into a period of night terrors that were alarming. he starting kicking, screaming, thrashing, throwing himself against the bed. Anything that touched him on the bed would fuel the terror. We took out all his stuffed animals and pulled the sheets back; he'd settle but then he'd start up again. Finally, at about 2:19 AM, we turned on lights and woke him up. He asked for pansito with cheese, so all went downstairs, turned on Blues Clues to distract him, and he ate a crescent roll and four mini muffins. After that, he brushed his teeth and was out in seconds. He slept until 7:35 - we were sure he was going to sleep in after that period, but nope. First thing he said when he woke up? "I want to go to Disney World, Mommy."

Of course, daddy and I are not functioning, although daddy's worse. We went in and out of consciousness while L turned on the light in his room and played, occasionally bringing in noisy toys here to wake us up. We ended up turning on the TV and he sat in bed with us, watching while we secured a few more minutes of sleep.

About half an hour ago, I decided to get up. L was getting hungry, and was asking for breakfast (waffles), so I said, "Okay, let's go downstairs and eat waffles."

"No, mommy, I stay right here."

"Baby, you don't want to eat waffles? Aren't you hungry?"

"Yes. I stay here. Mommy go downstairs and bring waffles here."

I was cracking up! How did he ever decide to have waffles in bed?
