Playing catch up with Wow and Uh-oh

It seems like I'm always playing catch-up lately. The holidays were wonderful. Christmas Eve dinner was wonderful. We fit 18 ppl in our home and it was awesome. We were gathered until about 11 pm and it was really nice having everyone together. L was wonderful and he stayed up until midnight without a problem. The following morning, L opened up his presents from us and a few others we'd saved for the morning. It was so awesome seeing him slowly rip the wrapping paper, being very careful and not sure if that was what he was supposed to be doing. He had on his Old Navy Santa PJs for the occasion. Then we had breakfast, and my mom came over to watch him while we finished packing for Disney. We left around 2 pm, picked up Nana, and the five of us were on our way to have some Mickey fun.

Disney was spectacular. Unlike my not-so-fun birthday trip, none of us were sick, and L was the model toddler. He loved having his nana and abuelita with him day and night, and he was a pro with all the characters. Nana got him his first autograph book and pen to tote around from character to character, and abuelita got him a super cute Disney t-shirt. He was in heaven.

We tacked on an extra day and got back on Dec 30, right in time to finish up the house for the new year. We spent New Year's Eve quietly, watching TV. I hope that means we'll have a quiet year. 2008 was rough, so I'm hoping 2009 is better - although, quite frankly, it doesn't seem that way. Already we had a death, my dad's cousin, which came as a complete shock to us. It was totally unexpected.

In L's world, he's amazing us more and more each day. He has 3 molars coming in, and he's talking like crazy. He's now added the following to his vocabulary: wow, uh-oh, outside, up, mas (aka more in spanish), nana, abui (short for abuelita). One of his daycare teachers told me that he's very smart. They only have to show him once and he learns to do it. He copies EVERYTHING we do and say. He's said cheese and other words, mimicking what we say. He also studies everything to see how it works. He's one smart baby!

I started my new job this Monday. It's been an interesting week, but it's gotten easier as Friday came to a close. And today they had a lunch to welcome me. It was wonderful and it really reconfirmed my decision to make this move. I am where I belong.

So that's it for now. Tomorrow Jorge and I celebrate our 5 year anniversary. I can't believe it's been 5 years already. We've been together for 8 years, married for 5. Here's to many more years to come!
